Here are some of the most popular questions from the hundreds of weddings and event clients we have celebrated.

  • We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your date — especially for peak wedding seasons! Popular dates can book out 12–18 months in advance.

  • Absolutely! When you book Luxe, you’re booking Brett Swain as your DJ (and possibly MC) — we’re not a multi-op company. Brett works personally with every couple, and you can chat with him before you book and any time throughout your engagement period. We offer in-person or virtual consultations so you can discuss your vibe, music preferences, and vision directly with him.

  • An open-format DJ is someone who mixes and blends multiple genres and styles of music seamlessly — reading the crowd and adapting the vibe in real-time. Brett is an experienced open-format DJ, which means he can switch between pop, R&B, dance, house, classics, and more, creating an unforgettable party atmosphere tailored to your guests’ energy and your personal style.

  • A DJ plays and mixes music live, keeping the energy flowing and the dance floor full. A Producer DJ takes it up a notch — adding custom remixes, live mashups, and unique edits to give your reception a one-of-a-kind sound.

  • That depends on how much value you place on the music at your wedding reception. If it’s low priority, a budget DJ might make sense. But if you want your wedding to be the party of your life, we recommend investing in a DJ with the skills and experience to make that happen.

  • Of course! Your wedding should reflect your style. Brett will collaborate on your must-play list and vibe, and you can trust him to read the crowd and keep the dance floor packed.

  • Nope — and we’ll tell you why. We set up before your reception starts so everything is finished and ready to go before your guests arrive. The last thing you want is your DJ rolling in halfway through dinner and sound-checking during speeches — awkward! That’s why we charge by the event, not by the hour. Plus, having us there the whole night means we’re ready to set the vibe from the very beginning and keep the energy building all night long. (Also see ‘How much should I spend on a wedding DJ’.)

  • We love working alongside live musicians! If you’ve booked an acoustic artist for dinner music, we’ll still be set up before your reception starts. We can easily DJ between their sets (which are typically 20-30 minute slots) and be ready to take over as soon as they’ve wrapped up — keeping the flow seamless and the party vibes strong.

Keep in mind - Unlike Live musicians, DJ’s do not take breaks from their sets.

  • Yes! We offer incredible special effects like cold spark fountains (Indoor Fireworks), Dancing on a Cloud for a dreamy first dance, room lighting and more. Ask us about how we can add that extra wow factor to your day.

  • We arrive early, set up and do a sound check all before your guests arrive to make sure everything looks perfect and runs smoothly.

We bring the full Luxe experience, including the DJ setup you’ve chosen — whether that’s our standard DJ facade or our stunning custom DJ furniture — along with kick-arse speakers, a wireless microphone for speeches, and top-of-the-line DJ decks (of course).

Pack down usually happens right after the event finishes, so there’s no disruption.

  • We sure do! Our bundled packages offer incredible value when you book multiple services like DJ, MC, lighting, photo booth, and special effects. Reach out for a custom quote.

  • We keep it simple! We only require a 25% deposit to lock in your date, and the remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding or event. This way, everything is settled well in advance so you can focus on the fun stuff as your big day approaches.

  • We understand that sometimes things happen. We’ll do our best to accommodate date changes, depending on availability. Just let us know as soon as possible so we can work together on a solution.

  • Yes! We love a good road trip and are happy to travel. Additional travel fees may apply depending on the location, but we’ll always discuss this with you upfront.
